This is going to be short one. I usually have one or two posts already prepared before either Monday or Thursday, but unfortunately not for today. Plus, I had a sleep-in today, because I am a bit under the weather. And I was wondering why? Sure, change in the weather outside; couple of 1.30 am nights this past week. But I exercised, ate well.
A Presidential Election
So I am going to go out on a limb and also blame James Comey. Yes, that James Comey, Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Let me throw in Julian Assange, and Vladimir Putin as well. Since Friday, when Comey’s irresponsibly vague letter to the US Congress has upended Hillary Clinton’s glide path to victory to the November 8 Presidential Election, I have been glued to Twitter on my phone or whatever screen with Internet connection. My anxiety levels have gone way up, to my own surprise, now that her presidency is in actual danger. I just can’t believe it. Reading polls, and articles about polls only further increases my anxiety (so I won’t include any links here). Because let’s be clear: I’d rather have Hillary Clinton become the next US President than ‘F@#$k Face von Clownstick’ as Jon Stewart calls Donald Trump. Trump is just not qualified for any public office, and Clinton is, despite all her flaws and misjudgments. I’m European, but I can say that because the fate of the American Republic concerns everyone in the world. Whether you like it or not.
I have been a close observer of the US Presidential Election since George H.W. Bush ran against Michael Dukakis. I have been fascinated with the process, the fanfare, the pump and circumstance. But this year, I’d gladly have it be over very soon.
So thanks James Comey for making me physically sick, now that I have to talk about the election in public tonight. So let me prepare for that now, right after popping some more aspirin.
